Why is it easier to give advice to others than to yourself?

For example, if you’re doing an experiment with another person at the same time, when you’ve managed to finish the experiment, it turns out that there’s a set of experimental data that’s wrong. Then you have to carefully check which step is wrong. Not only that, you will be in a bad mood, and you will have to repeat the previous experimental steps. Even you need to do a few more experiments to ensure that there are no mistakes in the experiment.

On the contrary, when you find that another person’s data is wrong, you just need to say, “Oh, there’s something wrong with your experimental data. You need to be more careful. Remember to record each set of data.” Then you can leave the lab.

That is to say, it is much easier to deny others than to deny yourself. What most people do is selfish. Since it is easier to be a hero of others, who wants to be a loser?
